Firewood Banksia (Banksia menziesii)
This artwork highlights the intricate details and beautiful pattern of the Firewood Banksia's seed pod, showing different stages of the follicles and seeds.
The Firewood Banksia (Banksia menziesii) is named in honour of Archibald Menzies, surgeon-naturalist on the Vancouver Expedition. Native to WA, Banksia menziesii acts as a food source, both flowers and seeds, to a number of bird species, including red-tailed black cockatoos, western rosellas, Australian ringnecks, honeyeaters and wattlebirds.
